3 Kids + 2 weeks of swim lessons = Exhausted

So today is the last day of swim lessons for all three kids. It is "Show Day" in which family and friends are invited to see the kids proudly display all the skills they have learned in the past two weeks. Madeleine has moved up a level to Dolfin 2 and James has also moved up a level to Dolfin 1-2. Given where James was at skill-wise at the end of last year, I can't wait to see what he can do now. We've been to the UP Pool several times in the past two weeks to practice our skills, but he doesn't want to do them for me. I'm hoping that his teachers will be able to get him to perform for us today. Madeleine is turning into a fearless fish - she loves to jump into the water and put her face in. She is getting much better at her floating and is starting to learn the freestyle stroke. I'm taking the video camera (if it charges enough in time, that is) so I will try to post a short video or two... if I can figure out how.

Everyone has been exhausted the last few days from our busy schedule... In addition to swimming every day, we were out late Monday night, I had a girls' night on Tuesday, and then Madeleine and James had their 5 year and 3 year checkups yesterday. Brannon actually got home at a reasonable time yesterday so I made a quick pasta primavera and we decided to put the kids to bed early and take the night off. We watched "Julie & Julia" (it was cute - I enjoyed it since I like cooking so much) and then went to bed. I even left dirty dishes in the sink (gasp!). Yes, that is how tired I was.

Dad and Brannon are going sailing this afternoon/evening and we have Kindermusik after swim lessons today, so I've got a chicken and rice dish with broccoli in the crockpot for tonight. I didn't get a run to the store in this week due to our crazy schedules so I am dipping into my freezer and pantry stashes to make it until my grocery run next week. I really, really do not like grocery shopping on the weekends for two reasons - 1. I do not like shopping in a crowd and 2. I (and Brannon) would much rather be doing something else as a family when he is off work. So we shall see what meals I can come up with until Monday.

So here's hoping that "Show Day" goes well and that we will be able to catch up on some rest and relaxation this weekend!
