4th Grade Hoe Down

As a fun activity to complement their studies of Texas history, the 4th grade class at CKS has a Hoe Down every spring. The school brings in a cotillion instructor to teach the kids how to two-step and some basic dance etiquette. The class also spends the rest of the day playing games, eating BBQ and doing a western-themed craft. They all dress in their western wear and have a great time!

Kids Rule the School

This year the CKS Auction Committee decided to have one day to celebrate each of the "teacher of the day" packages sold at Auction - May 19th. So this past Thursday Charlotte was teacher for the day in kindergarten and Madeleine was librarian for the day. Madeleine agreed to let James be her assistant for the day too. 😉

Charlotte had a great time leading her class and Madeleine and James enjoyed reading to the younger classes and helping out with taking inventory. The school bought all the kids Jersey Mikes sandwiches for lunch and they got to choose a dessert from the Faculty Luncch table. But their favorite part of the day may have been not having to wear their uniforms to school. 😜

May Crowning

Every year CKS has a May Crowning on the Friday following First Holy Communion. The 2nd graders wear their First Holy Communion outfits and the 8th graders wear their Confirmation dresses and suits. The Crowning takes place after the Friday all school Mass - it is a sweet celebration of Mary as our Queen and Mother. 

Camping with the Girl Scouts

This past weekend I took Madeleine's Girl Scout troop camping at Camp Bette Perot near Palestine, TX. We hiked, rode horses, swam, did crafts and had a great time! The girls were very well behaved and helpful the whole time.

James is 8!

For his bday lunch at school he wanted a Jimmy John's sandwich and a panda cookie cake to share with his friends. This is my attempt at a panda in icing: 

For his family birthday dinner, he wanted Jimmy John's sandwiches again. We had everyone over on Saturday to open presents. He received a party at the taekwondo school, a dancing panda, a panda stapler, registration to a football camp, a rocket launcher, water balloon maker, and various books. 

It was a great evening of playing with the cousins and celebrating our little man with family.
