Book Club

We had Book Club last night - the book for the month was Wine and War so we went with a French theme for dinner. The food was especially pretty this month, so I took some pictures. We've always joked about opening a catering company.

 

Day Four

Saturday was our last driving day of the rally. We left the hotel at 9am with a police escort for a parade through down town Eureka Springs. From there we drove to the historic War Eagle Mill for breakfast. After breakfast, we had the rest of the day off so Brannon and I walked though downton and did some sight-seeing. Dinner that evening was at the hotel and included a magic show and roast of the organizer of the rally. This is the final year of the Creacent Classic and they wanted to pay tribute to Chris for all his hard work over the past 10 years. We met some really great people and had a really fun time here. We would definitely sign up for any event Chris plans in the future!

Day Three

Another day of driving, on perhaps the best roads yet. Lunch was at the Ozark Cafe in Jasper. After lunch, Brannon gave one of the Jasper County deputies a ride in his car. It's always good to make friends with the police. 

The day ended with a costume party and charity auction. But it wasn't like any other auction I've ever been to... Chris, the event organizer, pretty much just told you which item you wanted and how much you were going to pay for it. So this year I'll be signing tax returns with the most expensive Bentley pen I've ever seen. 😊

Day Two

Day two was much less eventful than day one... Smooth driving, no breakdowns. We drove Blanchard Caverns, toured the park, ate lunch and drove back. At the end of the run, I hoped in a Nobel with a friend and had a short ride in a really fast car.  Afterwards, I got my 4.5 mile run in (in the hills!) and then we had dinner at the hotel. 

Day One

The morning run of the rally went well - Brannon loved the twisty roads. So much so, I got a little car sick. We stopped at a winery and had lunch with the group at a little German restaurant. 

After lunch, the mechanics were checking the oil level in the cars and discovered we were running a little low. Further investigation revealed moisture on the rear diffuser - it appeared we were leaking something. They were pretty sure it wasn't oil, but they put the car on the trailer and hauled it back to the hotel just in case. Brannon caught a ride in a Noble (very fast, very rare car) and I rode back with the mechanics in the truck (not fast, but well air conditioned). 

After a quick run to O'Reily's Auto Parts and a few minutes of work on the engine, we were good to go. No oil leak - apparently when we had the car serviced they over filled the transmission fluid and as our car got hot, it bubbled out. We replaced a few nuts we discovered were missing and headed out to dinner. 

Dinner started with a planned police escort into town - with 45 cars in the group, we make quite an impression driving around. The biker bar we went to was reserved just for us and served some great BBQ. 

We turned in early since we have an early start in the morning. 

Crescent Classic - Eureka Springs

It's the morning of my first car rally. The gps is loaded with the route, the car is clean, I'm wearing my Ferrari shirt - I think we are good to go.
