2nd Grade Field Trip

I helped chaperone Madeleine's class field trip to the Arboretum today. It was our first time to experience the new children's garden there and it was impressive! The class had a great time and the kids were engaged for the entire day - and we didn't even see it all! I was so impressed, I renewed our family membership to the Arboretum and can't wait to take James and Charlotte too. 

Loved Being at the Lake

The kids had a blast at the Lakehouse during Spring Break. The kids and I ended up staying the whole week. Mom and Dad watched the kids for me for a bit so I could get some work done. And then JeanMarie, John and his family joined us on Friday.  The fishing wasn't very good, but we played outside on our bikes and in the yard, went horseback riding, mined for minerals in a mineral finding kit and painted on canvas. 

And one of the most unexpected things to happen was that we ran into Robert and Jennifer Folzenlogen and their two kids at Mass in Holly Lake on Sunday. They were able to stop by the house for a bit that afternoon and all the little cousins got to play together. We were so glad they were able to stop by!

Spring Break

Camping

This weekend I took Madeleine's Girl Scout troop camping at Camp Classen in Davis, OK. We had a total of 14 girls and 6 adults on the campout. The girls enjoyed hiking, archery, horseback riding, learning about fire and washing dishes on a campout. They also had time to just run and play and be normal 7-8 year old girls without the distractions of technology. The weather forecast for this morning was icy, so we decided to head back a little early to avoid any issues on the drive back. I know the girls would have liked to make their own fire and roast marshmallows, but hopefully we will get to do that on the next campout.
