Girls' Day at the Barn

Madeleine did not have school all this week due to the Thanksgiving holiday, so I really wanted to do something special with just her while the other two were in school. James had a half day today and they were celebrating Grandparents' Day at his school, so I arranged to have my parents pick him up from school and take him to lunch. Charlotte was supposed to go to Mother's Day Out, but of course since I had made a bunch of plans for the other two kids, she woke up sick this morning. Plan B for they day involved taking the girls to see Aunt JeanMarie and ride her horse Davy at the barn. This was Charlotte's first time on a horse and she showed absolutely no fear! Both girls thoroughly enjoyed walking Davy around the arena. Madeleine even "jumped" a few fences for the first time. And I got up on the horse after a 20+ year hiatus. It was very clear that Davy knew I had no idea what I was doing! He did great with everyone though - JM should be very proud of her boy!! Despite the change in plans, I think everyone had a great time and made some wonderful memories.

Cooler Weather

Finally!! It feels like fall here! To celebrate the first night of the cooler weather, we had hot chocolates with marshmallows by the fire in the patio. Maybe filling the kids full of sugar before bedtime wasn't the most responsible parenting, but they thought it was the best thing ever. 😊
