Sailing in the BVI - Monday & Tuesday

Monday's morning we left Anegada and sailed about 24 nautical miles to Cane Garden Bay on the northern side of Tortola. We hadn't planned on sailing that far at once, but the wind was good and the kids didn't mind playing aboard the boat so we pushed on further than we planned.

Cane Garden Bay is a beautiful beach with the mountains rising above the white sands. The kids played in the sand and surf all afternoon.

Tuesday morning we sailed to Great Harbor on Jost Van Dyke. We ended up spending the day on the beach by Foxy's, lounging in the hammocks and playing on the beach. James got a little freaked out when we spotted a baby reef shark swimming in the water with him, but he remained calm and exited the water quickly. This was the 3rd shark we've spotted this trip - we saw one on Beef Island, one on Anegada and now one on Jost Van Dyke. All have been fairly small - nothing too scary. 😉

Oh -after all this sailing and hanging out on the beach with bars, Madeleine and Charlotte have decided that they want to work in a bar when they grow up. You get to meet lots of people, serve them food and drinks and live in a beautiful place. I think I'll still keep putting money in their 529 plans though. 😜
