NASA

We were on our way to Galveston to meet up with friends so we stopped for the day to visit NASA. Lots has happened with the space program since I had visitied as a kid! We learned all about the Apollo and space shuttle missions and the future plans to visit Mars.

Napa to Sonoma with Team Challenge

Last weekend I flew to California to run a half marathon with my friend Missy and Team Challenge North Texas. I joined the team this spring to raise funds for the Crohn's and Colitis Foundation in honor of Missy. She has lived with Colitis for the past 12 years and watching her and her family deal with the disease has inspired me to help her raise money to find a cure. Plus, I got to run a half in the beautiful wine country!

Missy and her family picked me up at the airport in San Francisco on Friday and we headed to Santa Rosa where the team was staying for the race. On Saturday, I went with the family to visit the Jelly Belly factory and experience some scenic driving through the wine country. That evening we attended the Team Challenge inspiration pasta dinner with the Team Challenge memebers from all over the country.

Sunday morning we left early (4:45am!) for the starting line located at a winery near Napa. 13.1 miles later we arrived in Sonoma. After some post-race fueling, we returned to the hotel. Missy and her family left for Yosemite and I hung out with the rest of the Team Challenge North Texas crew. We visited a winery and relaxed by the hotel pool for the rest of the evening. Monday morning we traveled back to San Francisco and flew home.

Sewing!

Madeleine attended a sewing camp at JoAnn's this week. They taught her how to use her sewing machine and worked on several projects including a triangle pillow with a pocket, a dog pillow, a dress and a matching purse. She came home and immediately made Charlotte a dress too! She loved the camp and is looking forward to completing several sewing projects at home including a panda pillow for James, an emoji pillow for Charlotte and an apron for Charlotte (for Charlotte's birthday).

June Recap

A few things we did this past June...

Charlotte has done riding lessons

James attended a Dak Prescott football camp

I took the girls to the Dallas Farmers Market

Madeleine has been riding as well

Brannon and I took a cooking class with some friends

We went to NRH2O with the cousins

Charlotte attended a singing camp and gave her first solo performance. She sang "Tale as Old As Time" from Beauty and the Beast.

Madeleine has been working on various craft projects

I've been running a lot in training for a half marathon in July. James rode his scooter to the park with me one day and had to play on the swings. Charlotte rode her bike with me another day. And I met up with the Team Challenge crew for a long run around White Rock Lake one Saturday. I'll be running the half marathon with them in California.

It's been a good first month of summer... most afternoons this is how we feel - time for a nap!

4th of July

Yes, I know I haven't posted yet about our sailing trip in French Polynesia, but that project is overwhelming to me right now so here are some other pics in the meantime....

We went sailing on White Rock Lake on the 4th and attended the Corinthian Sailing Club annual 4th of July party. I brought a chocolate kahlua cake to enter into the baking contest. It didn't win a prize but my kids thought it tasted the best. 😉
