Back to Preschool
Charlotte's first day back to preschool was today. She was excited to see her friends and teachers and was all smiles when I picked her up. Today and tomorrow are half-days at school. She will start a full-day schedule after Labor Day. Our baby is growing up so quickly!

Taekwondo
James started a new sport this week - taekwondo. He is so excited to be following in his daddy's footsteps! He has several friends who already take a mixed martial arts class, but he really wanted to do taekwondo, just like his dad. Seeing his intensity during his first class made me smile - he can be one serious kid!
We are happy to have found a traditional school that is similar to the school Brannon and his dad had in the 90's. In fact, Grand Master Yim remembers Brannon from his competition days. I think both James and Brannon are going to enjoy this experience.

Girls Weekend!
Last Friday a couple of girlfriends and I drove up to Lake Texoma for our 3rd annual girls retreat. We lounged by the pool, played some tennis and just enjoyed some quality time together without our husbands or kids. It is a great way to recharge our batteries at the beginning of the school year so we can start the year off with lots of energy and enthusiasm. I'm already looking forward to next year's getaway!

Eclectic Taste in Music
Today at piano lessons, Ms. Sunmi asked both Madeleine and James to fill out a short questionnaire about their piano lesson experience. She asked questions like:
Would you be interested in playing a duet? (sure)
Why do you take piano lessons? (I want to)
Do you think you practice enough? (yes!)
Do you get nervous performing in front of others? (a little)
What songs are you interested in playing?
I was not surprised when Madeleine listed "Let It Go" from the movie Frozen (she said she wants to play it for Charlotte) and "Summer" by Calvin Harris. But I can't wait to hear Ms. Sunmi's reaction to James' requests: "School's Out" by Alice Cooper, "I Can't Drive 55" by Sammy Hagar and "Drunken Sailor" (and Irish folk song). I'm pretty sure she is going to have a hard time finding a level 2 piano score for an Alice Cooper song! 😉

Running Buddies
I'm training for my first half-marathon and C isn't in school yet, so she went with me on my run this morning. When she got out of the stroller she sighed and said "Mama, I'm tired."
