What do you need me for?

So tonight Brannon was helping James use the big boy potty and after doing his business, he came to report to me on his success. Our conversation went like this:

James: I went pee pee and poo poo in the potty!!
Me: Way to go buddy!!
Brannon: James, what else did you do?
James: I flushed!!
Brannon: What else?
James: I washed my hands!!
Brannon: And what else did you do?
James: I brushed my teeth!!
Me: You went pee pee and poo poo in the potty, flushed, washed your hands, and brushed your teeth all by your big boy self?!?! That's awesome!! What do you need me for?
James: Dinner!!

She's Got It All Figured Out

So we are watching Max and Ruby on TV and a commercial for a Hot Wheels race track comes on. James of course starts yelling "I want that! I want that!" but then Madeleine chimes in too... "I want that! I want that!" Then she says "Momma, do you know why I want that? Because I want the boys to like me so I need to have the things they like." Oh dear... she's only 4 years old and she's already got it all figured out!

In case you think those TV marketing people don't know what they are doing...

On our trip to the Farmer's Market this morning, I was commenting on all the beautiful produce and how God made food for us in all the colors of the rainbow. "Isn't God so smart for making all the food we eat so beautiful?" I asked the kids. Madeleine replied: "Well, there is smart and then there is Kmart smart."

Ok, time to cut back on the TV shows with commercials.

A Classic "Madeleine-ism"

We stopped at the park after school today for an hour or so to meet up with some friends. It was unseasonably hot out and I had only one drink for each of the kids after school. After playing for a while in the heat, Madeleine comes up to me and asks for a drink. I informed her that she had already finished the one drink I brought for her. To which she promptly replied: "But Mooooom! I'm starving of thirst!"

A Toddler's Perspective

As we are driving down the road, we pass a transport truck carrying several new cars....

James: Cars have bad boo boo? (thinking the transport truck is a tow truck)
Me: No, those are new cars on their way to a dealership.
Madeleine: What is a dealership?
Me: It is a place where you can buy a car. Like you buy groceries at a grocery store and clothes at a clothes store... you buy cars at a dealership. Did you know that your Granddad William works at a dealership? He sells cars.
Madeleine: That is very nice of him!

Yes, Madeleine, yes it is.

We'll know better next time

So, before Charlotte was born, we decided to keep her name a secret. That way our family and friends would have a surprise when she was born. We knew if we told Madeleine and James what her name would be, they would probably spill the beans or be coerced by their grandparents into revealing our secret. Thus, we did not discover that James cannot pronounce "Charlotte" until after her name became official. Now he introduces his little sister to everyone as "Baby Harlot." NICE.

Good Boy!

So the other day we are riding in the car and James says out of the blue... "Mommy looks like Barbie."

Bless you, my son, bless you.

Here we go...

So... I have a newborn baby, it is tax season, and we are about to put our house up for sale. Yep, this is the perfect time to start a blog! What's a little less sleep when you have so little of it anyway, right?

Actually, the reason for starting the blog is to hopefully create a record of the memorable happenings in our lives that aren't captured in pictures. I'm just inviting you guys along for the ride. Yes, I am that nice.

Welcome to my world y'all.
